The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) organizes the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), which is the world’s largest scientific conference that explores the latest innovations and best practices in healthcare simulation. IMSH provides the tools and resources healthcare professionals need to advance their skills, impact change in delivery systems and practice, and, ultimately improve patient safety.

Here are five reasons why you should attend!

1.    A program you don’t want to miss

During this year’s IMSH conference, everything revolves around “Redefining & Redesigning,” with a content rich, multidisciplinary program for everyone working in healthcare simulation. The program includes hands-on workshops, exciting speakers, nearly 300 educational sessions, poster presentations, and an exhibit hall full of the latest products and services.

2.    Networking with the other 2,500 attendees

Expected attendees from 54 countries include physicians, nurses, dentists, paramedics, and physical therapists. Join your colleagues from all levels of expertise around the globe to help power the future in healthcare through simulation. In addition, 80% of attendees surveyed during the previous conference said that networking and educational content were the most valuable components of the conference.

3.    New and interesting social events

On Saturday, January 26 (the preconference day), the day ends with a President’s Diamond Ball. The evening will include dinner, dancing and drinks. It is sure to be a party you won’t forget!

The next morning, you can demonstrate your athletic capacities during the #SimFit19 5k Run/Walk, which will take place between 6am and 8am. Your 5K will begin and end at Sunset Station in downtown San Antonio, and you’ll get the chance to experience a spectacular sunrise on the way.

You can also stop by “The Couch” on the 2nd floor, and share your ideas on topics of interest in simulation. These couch conversations will take place between educational sessions; come join the discussion!

In addition, the silent disco series is offered throughout the conference and enables you to listen to multiple presentations. Simply switch channels to hear different ideas from various presenters as you walk through the beautiful Plenary Hall and SimVentors Showcase.

5.    A new location

San Antonio, Texas, USA, is a family friendly, walkable city with plenty of nearby attractions. IMSH 2019 takes place at the Henry B. González Convention Center, which is nestled in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio along the banks of the world-famous River Walk.

Lined by bars, shops, restaurants, nature, public artwork, and the five historic missions, the River Walk is an important part of the city's urban fabric and a tourist attraction in its own right. Explore it all by foot along the river’s walking path or jump aboard a river barge for a ride and guided tour. It will definitely be worthwhile!

In order to keep track of what is going on during the conference, the onsite program guide is also available online! You can also download the IMSH Mobile App - it contains the most up to date information for IMSH courses and events.

We look forward meeting you!

Please visit IMSH and take the opportunity to network, meet old friends and colleagues, exchange knowledge, and to say hi to our representatives! The conference will take place from January 26-30, 2019. We look forward to seeing you there!
