When you have a software based license, you need your license key to activate your Noldus software after installation. Or, perhaps you want to know which version of the software you are using. There are a few places to look:

Option 1: Find it in MyNoldus

This is the quickest route. If you're the license owner or have been added as an invited user, your key is waiting for you in MyNoldus.

1. Sign in at my.noldus.com.
2. Go to Licenses in the left-hand menu.
3. Select the license you want to know more about.
4. Your activation key is listed on the license detail page.

Option 2: No access to MyNoldus? Find it in the software

If the software is already installed and activated on your computer, you can retrieve your license information directly from the application.

1. Open your Noldus software.
2. Go to Help in the top menu and select About.
3. The full version number of your software is shown here.
4. To see your license details, click User Info or License Info (the button name varies by product and version).

Understanding your license number

How to read the number depends on your license type:

• Software-based license (SBLK): The number is randomized and doesn't indicate version or modules. You'll need it to activate your license after installation.
• Hardware key (dongle): The number contains a two-letter software identifier (e.g., EV for EthoVision XT), the version number (e.g., EV150 = EthoVision XT 15.0), a unique five-digit ID, and optional letters for any additional modules.

Option 3: No access to the software or MyNoldus? Ask your license owner

Every Noldus license is linked to one MyNoldus account — the license owner. This is usually the person who placed the original order: a PI, lab manager, or IT administrator.

Ask your license owner to:

• Sign in to my.noldus.com and look up the key under Licenses, or
• Add you as an invited user so you can find it yourself going forward.

Not sure who the license owner is? Check with your PI, lab manager, or whoever manages software purchases in your department. If the original owner has left your organisation and no one has access, contact our support team, we can help transfer the license to a current member of your lab.
