How do I merge manual scoring data from multiple computers?

• On each PC, export manual scoring data to an Excel file via Export > Manual scoring.
• Transfer the Excel files to a single PC.
• In Excel, align start/stop times and combine scoring rows into one sheet. Add a source column if needed.
• Use the combined dataset for analysis in EthoVision or another program.

Why are manual scoring visualizations missing?

The software cannot display manual scoring if no behaviors were recorded. For the trials in question, no manual data existed, so the visualizations were empty. Verify that the trial durations are sufficient and rescore if necessary.

Will retracking erase manual scoring?

Yes. Re‑running detection overwrites manual scoring. Always export the manual scoring data first. After retracking, merge the old manual scoring with the new detection data, ensuring timestamps align.

How can I prevent EthoVision from tracking shadows?

Reset the background during acquisition by clicking the camera icon in the video window. This forces EthoVision to capture a fresh background frame. Alternatively, briefly switch the room lights off and on to refresh the background.

Can I avoid manual scoring entirely?

Using updated detection settings and analysis profiles (e.g., nose‑point tracking and appropriate zones) can automate behaviour scoring. Optimise lighting and arena design to improve automatic tracking accuracy.
