Install the 10GigE Interface Card
The 10GigE interface card must be installed in your PC before connecting the camera. Follow these steps carefully.
- Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable. Also turn off all connected peripherals.
- Remove the PC's side panel according to your PC's user manual.
-
Select a free PCIe expansion slot and remove the corresponding slot cover.
Different PCIe slots offer different bandwidth. When possible, choose the slot that gives maximum performance. The card has a 1x connector so values are per lane:
- PCIe v2.x: 500 MB/s
- PCIe v3.0: ~1 GB/s
- PCIe v4.0: ~2 GB/s
- PCIe v5.0: ~4 GB/s
-
Unpack the Ethernet board and carefully place it into the selected PCIe slot. Press gently but firmly into position.
Important — Static Electricity: Electronic components can be damaged by static electricity. Ensure you are grounded before handling the card. Use an earthing wristlet clipped to the PC's metal frame, or hold the frame with one hand while handling the board.
- Fix the card to the chassis with the retaining screw and re-fit the computer's side panel.
- Reconnect power and start your computer. Windows will automatically detect the new network adapter.
Verify Network Adapter Settings
- Open Windows Device Manager.
- Under Network Adapters, locate your new Ethernet board, right-click and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab and ensure Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is not selected.
Connect the Camera
The new CatWalk Basler camera comes with a heat sink pre-installed to prevent overheating during operation.
Connect the Network Cable
- Connect one end of the GigE Cat6a network cable to the camera. Make sure you securely tighten the screws to attach the network plug.
- Connect the other end of the network cable to the 10GigE port on your PC.
Connect the Power Cable
- Attach the power cable to the camera. Carefully align the pins on the connector to the power input on the camera.
- Connect the other end of the power cable to the CatWalk control unit.
Mount the Camera
Attach the camera to the CatWalk using the mounting bracket. Adjust the camera position to your needs.
Ensure the camera is positioned centrally above the walkway and that the lens has a clear, unobstructed view of the entire glass plate.
Install the Software
Once all the hardware components have been installed you are ready to download the CatWalk 11 software.
- Go to my.noldus.com.
