Manual Control Window
In addition to the normal functions of receiving and executing commands from Ethovision, the ConductMaze adapter software provides a manual control panel.
- It can be used to test controls
- It can be used for manual controls like closing the door
- It shows the control states as a dashboard during the protocol run

The results are saved in the Ymaze Result tab.
Empathy Essay
Empathy-Maze Commands from Noldus EthoVision
| Type | Action | Command | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shock | Start |
c=1,2,0 (1 left chamber, 2 right chamber, 0 both chambers)v=1-100 volumed=1-360 duration in secondsf=200-18000 frequencyi=0.1–4.0 shock current level (mA)
|
c=1,v=50,d=5,f=1000,i=0.5c=2,v=50,d=5,f=1000,i=0.4 |
| Shock | Stop | t=0 |
Empathy Result
Once the adapter receives the command, a random shock schedule is generated based on the algorithm described in Random Shock Methods.pdf. The shock schedule is then executed.
There are two ways to stop the shock execution:
- Send a stop command from video tracking
- Go to the Command Execution tab, choose command
t=0, and click the Send button
Save Shock Schedule
There is no result output for the empathy test; behavior is captured and analyzed with video. To save the shock schedule, the grid data can be copied and pasted to a spreadsheet.
- To select the entire grid, select the first row and first column cell, hold the Shift key, then select the last row and last column cell. The entire grid data should be selected (highlighted in light blue). Release the Shift key after selection.
- Press Ctrl + C to copy the data to the clipboard.
- Go to a spreadsheet page and press Ctrl + V to paste the data. The grid data along with headers will be pasted into the spreadsheet.
Manual Commands
For testing purposes, the software allows the user to send a shock command (a connection must be established).
