EthoVision XT - Sylics Protocols - Introduction

Last updated: Jul 31, 2026

Steps on AHCODA-DB Website

Adding Mice, Strains and Experiments Prior to Running Experiments

  1. Go to your personal website and log in as an admin.
  2. Add strain: If you want to test a strain you have never tested before, go to the Admin & Mouse Database page and select Strains to enter information about this strain into the database.
  3. Add experiment: In order to have a better overview of the data, you can assign an Experiment name to the mice (as seen in the example data for C57 and Balb mice). To create a new experiment name, go to the Admin & Mouse Database page and select Experiments.
  4. Add mice: On the Admin & Mouse Database page, select Mice and add information about the mice you want to test (e.g. strain, genotype, treatment). The mouse ID (PH number) is the identifier that links data generated in EthoVision to the corresponding mouse in the AHCODA database.
  5. Define protocol: On the Admin & Mouse Database page, select Mice and select the protocol which will be used to run the experiment.

Steps in Windows

General Settings in Windows

  • Turn off the automatic Windows updates as this can cause a reboot while your experiment is running.
  • In the Date/Time settings, turn off Set time automatically and turn off Adjust for daylight saving time automatically as this may cause time issues while your experiment is running.
