Procedure

1. Connect the eye tracker to the test participant PC and position it at the bottom of the monitor.
2. Optionally, connect a USB camera to the test participant PC. It is also possible to use an internal webcam on a laptop.
3. Install the eye tracker software and drivers. If you want to install a Tobii eye tracker, see Setup Tobii Eye Tracker for more detailed steps. If you want to install an Eyetech eye tracker, see Setup Eyetech Eye Tracker for more details. See the table Software Components Per Eye Tracker for which software or drivers apply to your eye tracker.
4. If you already carried out the procedure to Set up screen and camera sharing on Participant PCs, skip to steps 8 and 10 only. If not, continue with the step below.
5. If you have a previous version of NoldusHub, first uninstall N-Linx Agent and delete all content in the folder C:\ProgramData\Noldus\N-Linx Agent\Plugins. If this is your first time installing NoldusHub, skip this step.
6. Copy the N-Linx Agent subfolder from the NoldusHub installation USB stick to the desktop of the participant PC.
7. Open the folder, double-click the file N-Linx Agent Setup and follow the instructions on your screen. Accept the terms in the End-User License Agreement.
8. N-Linx Agent now opens automatically. If not, open the system tray and double-click the N-Linx Agent icon to open N-Linx Agent.
9. Enter the hostname of the server in the N-Linx Server Address field and click Connect. At the bottom of the N-Linx Agent window, you now see the text Connected.
10. Click Add Plugin and browse to the plugin in the N-Linx Agent > Plugins folder on the desktop, select it and click Open.

Setup Tobii Eye Tracker

1. Go to the Tobii website.
2. Download and install the Tobii Eye Tracker Manager.
3. Select all checkboxes and accept the firewall popup.
4. Select Install Eye Tracker.
5. Select the corresponding eye tracker type and click Install.
6. Accept the Windows popup again.
7. Once the installation complete popup comes up, click Close.
8. Connect the eye tracker to the PC.
9. Select the eye tracker and click Calibrate to check the functionality of the eye tracker. This is also possible if you turn on position guide.

Setup Eyetech Eye Tracker

1. Navigate to: V:\~ Noldus Products\NoldusHub\140 internal only\Devices\EyeTech\EyeTech redistributables installer.
2. Double-click the file and follow the steps.
3. Restart PC.
4. Calibrate the Eyetech eye tracker once server and participant station are set up. In order to work well, the Eyetech eye tracker needs to be calibrated at least once.

Prepare Participant PCs for Biosensors

Aim

To set up your Shimmer biosensor devices and verify whether your sensors are working properly.

Before You Begin, Ensure That:

• The latest version of Google Chrome is installed.
• The NoldusHub computers are connected to the same network switch and are in the same subnet. This means:
  • The participant PC is connected to the server PC through a 1 Gb Ethernet network.
  • The IP addresses of both computers fall in the same IP range (the first three blocks of the IP address should be the same).
• The Firewall allows inbound and outbound traffic through TCP port 5671. See also Firewall Settings.
• The biosensor is supported, and its firmware is updated to the most recent version. See also Supported Biosensors from the reference manual.

Procedure

You have to carry out this procedure once on every participant PC that you want to use for biosensor data collection.

Shimmer Biosensors

Consensys has to be installed on at least one PC. It is used to configure the Shimmer devices; this can be done for all Shimmer devices from one PC.

1. On any PC, open the browser and navigate to shimmersensing.com.
2. Click Support > Downloads.
3. Download Consensys V<version number> (64-bit).
4. Open your downloads folder in File Explorer and unzip the zip file.
5. Locate the file setup.exe in the folder and double-click to run it. Click Yes to continue.
6. Follow the steps on your screen.
7. Choose ConsensysBASIC and enter your details (name, organization, and email).
8. Connect the Shimmer docking station to the test participant PC, insert the Shimmer device, and turn it on using the slider on the side of the device.
9. If necessary, first do a firmware upgrade of the Shimmer device. If not necessary, you can continue to step 13.
10. Select the dock you want to configure and click on the Manage button in the bottom left of the application.
11. Select the firmware option.
12. Select LogAndStream_Shimmer3_(Version number) and click the Program button. Wait until the software is finished with the firmware upgrade.
13. Click Manage Devices in the Consensys software.
14. Click on the picture of the Shimmer device on the right side of your screen. The device will appear in the list on the left.
15. Click Configure.
16. In the Sampling Rate field, depending on the type of device, enter the value as seen in the table below and click the warning triangle to validate.

17. Select the Battery Voltage tile (so it is colored and not greyed out), for both Shimmer3 ECG and Shimmer3 GSR+ devices.
18. Depending on the device, see the corresponding step for the correct configuration:
    1. For Shimmer3 ECG, make sure that the ECG is selected (colored and not greyed out) in the ECG/EMG tile on the Sensors tab. Then click A on the ECG/EMG tile. Set Gain to 4 and Resolution to 24 bit.
    2. For Shimmer3 GSR+, make sure that the GSR and PPG are selected (colored and not greyed out) in the GSR+ tile.
19. Click on the field with the parameters you want to measure and click Write Config. Wait until the configuration is complete, and then click Finish.
20. Close the Consensys application.
