Tobii Glasses 3 - Integration with The Observer XT
1. Introduction
Aim of This Technical Note
This document describes how to use the Tobii Glasses 3 in combination with The Observer XT. Collecting eye tracker data in The Observer XT allows you to combine them with other data modalities, like facial expressions and physiological data. You can either let MediaRecorder collect data from the Tobii Glasses and automatically import the gaze overlay video and eye tracker data into The Observer XT, or use the Tobii Pro Glasses 3 controller application and manually import the gaze overlay video and eye tracker data:
- Automatic Import into The Observer XT — The Observer XT starts and stops MediaRecorder. MediaRecorder collects data from the Tobii Glasses, it receives the video signal and the gaze overlay data. When you stop the observation, the gaze overlay video and gaze data are automatically imported into The Observer XT. If you like, you can manually import pupil diameter data. Please note that with this method you cannot collect Area of Interest data. However, you can manually code the gaze overlay video in The Observer XT.
- Manual Import into The Observer XT — Use the Tobii Pro Glasses 3 controller application to make a recording with the Tobii Glasses. Open the recording in the Tobii Pro Lab software. Export the gaze overlay video and the eye tracker data from Tobii Pro Lab in a *.plof format and convert the data file to a *.csv format with the Noldus Tobii Pro Lab File Converter tool. Manually import the gaze overlay video and the converted data into The Observer XT.
