Transfer Viso To Another Computer
The aim of this chapter is to transfer Viso Viewer, Viso Recorder, or Viso Services to another computer.
Viso Services
Procedure
- Set up the computer following the procedure in Computer Setup.
- Give your new computer the same IP address as the old PC. Make sure to change the address of the old computer first, or disconnect that computer from the Viso network.
- Install Viso Services on the new computer in the Viso network and connect the hardware key.
- Copy the Viso database to the new computer.
Copy the Viso Database
- On the old computer, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open Windows Task Manager.
- Open the Services tab.
- Right-click Viso Services and choose Stop.
- Copy the files VisoDatabase.mdf and VisoDatabase_log.ldf located in the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Noldus\Viso.
- On the new computer, follow steps 1 to 3 above to stop Viso Services.
- Paste the copied files from step 4 to the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Noldus\Viso.
- On the Services tab of Windows Task Manager, right-click Viso Services and choose Start.
Viso Recorder
- Set up the computer following the procedure in Computer Setup.
- Install Viso Recorder on the new computer.
- Connect Viso Recorder to Viso Services and share the video file folder.
- Copy configuration files to the new computer.
- Copy session videos to the new computer.
- Rename the new computer.
Note: You can give your new computer the same IP address as the old computer, but make sure to change the address of the old computer first, or disconnect that computer from the Viso network.
Copy Configuration Files to New Computer
Copy the files Noldus.Viso.Recorder.config and Noldus.Viso.RecorderManager.config from the folder C:\ProgramData\Noldus\Viso Recorder\11 on the old computer to the same folder on the new computer.
Copy Session Videos to New Computer
To find the session videos on the old computer, open Viso Recorder Manager by right-clicking on its icon in the system tray in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Open the Video Folder tab to view which folder the session videos are stored in. Create an identical folder on the new computer and transfer the session videos to that folder.
Rename New Computer
- Write down the computer name of the old computer. To find the computer name (device name), open the Control Panel and choose System.
- Disconnect the old computer from the Viso network, or change its computer name.
- Give the new computer the name you wrote down in step 1:
- Open the Control Panel and choose System.
- Click Rename This PC.
- Enter the name you wrote down in step 1.
Viso Viewer
- Install Viso Viewer on the new computer.
- Connect Viso Viewer to Viso Services.
Restore Connection Settings on All Viso Viewer Computers
- Open Viso Viewer.
- Enter the IP address of the new Viso Services computer and leave the default port number 5672.
- Click Connect. A Login window opens. Enter your credentials to get access to Viso.
Check the Locations
The Locations tab is present if your user role allows session recording.
- Click the Locations tab to see the list of locations that were added on the old computer. Check whether all locations are Online.
- Double-click a location to see the camera views.
Check Your Sessions
- Click the Sessions tab to see the list of recorded sessions that you are entitled to review.
- Double-click a session to open it and play it back.
Invalid Video in Session Warning
Follow the steps below if you get a message that the video in the session cannot be opened because it is corrupt. To access the required settings, your user role must be Technician or Setup.
This issue also occurs in the following scenarios:
- You reinstalled Viso on the same computer after a system reset and used the same database.
- You renamed the Viso Services PC.
