Paw Angle values blank in export – Interactive Footprint Measurements (IFM) module
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
Paw Angle (and potentially other IFM-derived parameters) appears blank or shows dashes in the Run/Trial Statistics export from CatWalk XT, even though other gait parameters export correctly.
Details
Paw Angle is generated exclusively through the Interactive Footprint Measurements (IFM) module in CatWalk XT. It will be blank if: (a) the license does not include the IFM module, or (b) IFM measurements have not been performed for the relevant runs prior to export. Affects all CatWalk XT versions with IFM.
Solution
1. **Check your license:** In CatWalk XT, go to Help > About or License Information and verify whether the Interactive Footprint Measurements (IFM) module is listed as licensed. If it is not included, contact your Noldus sales representative to add this module.
2. **Perform IFM measurements before exporting:** If IFM is licensed, navigate to the IFM section of the software (Analyze > Interactive Footprint Measurements or equivalent). Open each run and complete the IFM measurement procedure for the paws of interest.
3. **Re-export data:** After IFM measurements are saved, re-export the Run/Trial Statistics. Paw Angle and other IFM parameters should now populate.
4. IFM must be completed for every run individually — it is not applied retroactively by the export function.
