DanioVision Bottom / IR Light Not Responding – DanioVision Interface Not Installed
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
EthoVision XT cannot control the DanioVision observation chamber's bottom (IR) light, or the light control option is absent/unresponsive in the software.
Details
Symptoms: The bottom light does not respond to software commands. The issue occurs when the DanioVision interface software component has not been installed on the controlling PC. Distinct from the hardware fault where the bottom light stays on permanently (covered separately below).
Solution
1. Verify whether the DanioVision Interface has been installed: open EthoVision XT and check whether the DanioVision hardware options appear in Arena Settings / Hardware.
2. If the interface is missing, run the DanioVision Interface installer (available on MyNoldus under Downloads → DanioVision, or supplied on the installation media).
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation, then restart EthoVision XT.
4. Re-open Arena Settings and confirm the bottom light can now be toggled via the software.
5. If the interface is already installed and the problem persists, check USB/IO connections and consult the related article 'DanioVision IO-Box / IO-Warrior Not Detected by EthoVision XT'.
