Erasmus Ladder Relocated to New Facility – Setup Verification After Move
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
After moving the Erasmus Ladder system to a new room or facility, the user is unsure how to verify that the system is correctly set up and communicating with the computer.
Details
When the Erasmus Ladder is physically relocated (e.g., to a new behavioural phenotyping core or lab space), users may be uncertain whether hardware reassembly, network configuration, or software reconfiguration is required. If the same PC is reused and no components were disassembled, existing network settings are typically preserved and minimal reconfiguration is needed. If a new PC is used or network settings were reset, full reconfiguration may be required. Reference hardware: ERLA-0012, 24VDC-120W.
Solution
1. Determine what, if anything, was disassembled during the move (ladder hardware, router, PC, cabling).
2. If the same PC is being used and was not reconfigured: reconnect all cables (ladder to router, router to PC), power on the router and ladder, and attempt to launch the ErasmusLadder software — communication should resume without further changes.
3. If a new PC is being used, or network settings were changed: reconfigure the PC's network adapter to the static IP settings required by the Erasmus Ladder (consult the original setup documentation or contact Noldus Support for the correct values).
4. Verify the router indicator light is green and the ladder is identified by the software before starting a session.
5. Run a short test session to confirm all rungs are reporting correctly before resuming experiments.
6. If issues persist or full on-site setup assistance is needed, contact Noldus Support to arrange a (potentially paid) service visit, providing your hardware serial number and license number.
