Problem

In EthoVision XT Arena Settings, the toolbar containing drawing tools (shapes, pointers, zone tools) that normally appears above the arena image is missing and cannot be accessed.

Details

The arena drawing toolbar can become hidden or displaced from its default position, often after a software crash, display resolution change, or accidental undocking. This is a panel/toolbar layout issue similar to the Track Editor toolbar missing problem. Affects EthoVision XT across versions.

Solution

1. Close EthoVision XT completely.
2. Navigate to the experiment folder (default: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Noldus\EthoVision XT\Experiments\[ExperimentName]).
3. Delete the files named 'positions.pos' and 'PositionsDock.pob' from the experiment folder. These files store the saved panel and toolbar layout.
4. Reopen EthoVision XT and then open the experiment.
5. The toolbar and panels should reset to their default positions.
6. If the toolbar is still missing, try going to the View menu (if available) and re-enabling the toolbar, or resetting the workspace layout from within EthoVision settings.
