EthoVision Error 10075 – Camera Incompatibility or Third-Party Video Decoder Conflict

Last updated: Nov 01, 2026

Problem

EthoVision crashes or displays error code 10075 when opening detection settings in online acquisition mode, or when a USB camera is connected. After restarting, the error recurs.

Details

Error 10075 can have two distinct causes: (1) The connected USB camera is not compatible with EthoVision XT. (2) A third-party video decoder installed by Adobe software or other media applications conflicts with EthoVision's own decoder. Affected versions include at least XT 14 and later. Symptoms include a crash on opening detection settings and the error appearing on restart.

Solution

1. Confirm camera compatibility: Check that the USB camera model is listed as supported in EthoVision's hardware compatibility documentation. Unsupported cameras will not work and must be replaced with a compatible model.
2. If the camera is compatible, check for conflicting third-party decoders: Open Windows Settings > Apps and look for Adobe software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects) or standalone codec packages (e.g., ffdshow, K-Lite Codec Pack, LAV Filters).
3. Uninstall any identified third-party decoder or codec software.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Reopen EthoVision XT and attempt to open detection settings again.
6. If the issue persists after removing decoders, consider using CPU video processing mode (Help > GPU Rendering > switch to CPU) as an additional workaround.
7. If the camera itself remains unrecognized after all steps, contact Noldus Support with the camera model and error details.
