EthoVision Error ID 12015 – Unstable Camera Signal During Acquisition
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
During video acquisition, EthoVision displays error ID 12015. Acquisition may fail or produce corrupted data.
Details
Symptom: Error code 12015 appears during acquisition. May be accompanied by dropped frames or failed recording. Root cause: Unstable or intermittent camera signal, often due to a faulty camera, loose cabling, or a hardware fault in the camera unit itself. Affected: Any EthoVision version using a hardware camera source.
Solution
1. Check all cable connections between the camera and the PC (GigE ethernet cable, power cable, PoE injector if used). Re-seat all connectors.
2. Test with a known-good cable to rule out a faulty cable.
3. Try connecting the camera to a different ethernet port or network adapter on the PC.
4. Open Pylon Viewer to verify whether the camera is detected and producing a stable image independently of EthoVision.
5. If the camera is intermittently detected or produces a flickering/unstable image in Pylon Viewer, the camera hardware itself is likely faulty.
6. Replace the camera with a spare or loaner unit to confirm the diagnosis.
7. If a hardware fault is confirmed, contact Noldus Support to initiate an RMA (return merchandise authorization) for the faulty camera.
