EthoVision XT 3 / Very Old Versions – End-of-Life Status and No Further Support Available

Last updated: Nov 01, 2026

Problem

A user or institution is still running a very old version of EthoVision (e.g., EthoVision 3.x, purchased circa 2004) and requests official support, compatibility confirmation, or documentation.

Details

EthoVision 3.x (and other similarly aged legacy versions) have reached end-of-life status. Noldus no longer provides technical support, bug fixes, compatibility updates, or hardware/software compatibility guarantees for these versions. This may be relevant when users are decommissioning old systems, writing grant applications, or transitioning to a new platform and need an official statement about software status.

Solution

1. EthoVision 3.x and similarly aged legacy versions are officially end-of-life. Noldus no longer provides technical support, software updates, or compatibility statements for these versions.
2. If you need an official written confirmation of end-of-life status (e.g., for grant applications, compliance documentation, or system decommissioning), contact Noldus support and request a formal end-of-life statement for the specific version.
3. To continue behavioral tracking research with full support, upgrade to EthoVision XT 19. Contact your Noldus regional representative for upgrade pricing and options.
4. If you have existing data files from EthoVision 3.x and need to migrate or re-analyze them in a current version, contact Noldus support to discuss whether file format conversion is feasible.
