Installing EthoVision on an Offline (Non-Internet-Connected) PC – Transferring Installation Files via USB
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
A user needs to install EthoVision on a PC that is not connected to the internet and cannot download the software directly from MyNoldus.
Details
EthoVision installation requires downloading the installer package, which is not possible directly on offline PCs. However, the installer can be downloaded on an internet-connected machine and transferred to the offline PC via USB drive or other media. This is a common need in secure laboratory environments. The software itself does not require internet access for normal operation once installed with a hardware dongle or offline-mode SBLK license.
Solution
1. On an internet-connected PC, log in to MyNoldus (noldus.com/app/home) and download the EthoVision XT installation package for the required version. Alternatively, request a direct download link from Noldus support.
2. Save the downloaded installation file(s) to a USB drive or other portable media.
3. Transfer the USB drive to the offline PC and run the installer from the USB drive.
4. Follow the standard installation steps, installing as Administrator.
5. If using a USB hardware dongle license, connect the dongle after installation – no internet activation is required.
6. If using an SBLK license in offline/computer-locked mode, follow the offline activation procedure (request an activation response file from Noldus using the activation request file generated on the offline PC).
7. EthoVision does not require an internet connection for normal operation after installation and activation.
