'Limited Period Warning' Error After Upgrading to EthoVision XT 19

Last updated: Oct 29, 2026

Problem

After upgrading to EthoVision XT 19, users see a 'Limited Period Warning Error' message on startup across multiple computers. The software appears to launch but displays this warning, causing concern about license validity.

Details

This error appears when the existing license type (e.g., older SBLK code or dongle-based license) is not fully compatible with EthoVision XT 19's licensing system, or when the license has not been properly migrated to the new software-based activation format. Observed after upgrading from XT 17 or XT 18 to XT 19. Can affect multiple computers simultaneously when the same license code is used across a lab.

Solution

1. Contact Noldus Support and provide your current license code(s) and the number of computers/seats affected.
2. Support will convert the existing license(s) to a compatible software-based activation (SBLK) code for EthoVision XT 19.
3. Once the new code is provided, open EthoVision XT 19 on each affected computer.
4. Enter the new activation code when prompted to complete the license migration.
5. The 'Limited Period Warning' should no longer appear after successful activation with the updated code.

Note: If you previously used USB dongles, they will be retired as part of this conversion. Ensure you have the new SBLK code saved securely before discarding dongles.
