Multiple Basler GigE Cameras Detected in Pylon Viewer but Not All Appear in EthoVision – IP Configuration Conflict

Last updated: Nov 01, 2026

Problem

The user has multiple Basler GigE cameras connected to the system. Some cameras are visible and functional in EthoVision, but others (e.g., 3 out of 4) are not detected, even though all cameras appear correctly in Pylon Viewer.

Details

This issue occurs when cameras share conflicting IP addresses or subnet settings, or when cameras are not configured with static IP addresses. EthoVision requires each GigE camera to have a unique, correctly configured IP address on the same subnet as the dedicated network interface card (NIC). Cameras that appear in Pylon Viewer but not in EthoVision typically have IP/subnet conflicts or are set to DHCP rather than static IP. Affects EthoVision XT with multiple Basler GigE cameras on multi-port GigE NICs.

Solution

1. Open Pylon Viewer and check the IP address currently assigned to each camera.
2. Identify any cameras that share the same IP address or are on a different subnet than their corresponding NIC port.
3. For each camera not detected in EthoVision, assign a unique static IP address that matches the subnet of the NIC port it is connected to (e.g., camera on port with NIC IP 192.168.1.1 should be set to 192.168.1.x).
4. Ensure no two cameras share the same IP address.
5. If using a multi-port NIC, confirm that each port has a distinct subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x, 192.168.2.x) and that each camera is assigned an IP within the subnet of its specific port.
6. After reconfiguring, restart EthoVision and verify that all cameras now appear as available video sources.
7. If conflicts persist, use the Pylon IP Configurator tool to force-set static IPs on all cameras.
