NVIDIA RTX 50-Series GPU (e.g., RTX 5070) Requires Specific EthoVision Version and Driver Configuration
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
User has a system with an NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU (e.g., RTX 5070) and experiences camera or acquisition issues in EthoVision XT, or the software does not function correctly with the new GPU.
Details
NVIDIA RTX 50-series (Blackwell architecture) GPUs require a specific minimum version of EthoVision XT and compatible driver versions to function correctly with the software's video processing pipeline. Additionally, the latest Visual Studio C++ redistributables must be installed. Using an older EthoVision version or mismatched drivers with a 50-series GPU can cause acquisition failures, crashes, or camera detection issues. Identified in EthoVision XT 18.
Solution
1. Confirm your GPU model (e.g., RTX 5070) and the current version of EthoVision XT installed.
2. For NVIDIA RTX 50-series (Blackwell) GPUs, you must use EthoVision XT version 18.0.1834 or later with the specific driver version validated for that GPU generation. Contact Noldus Support to confirm the exact required driver version for your GPU.
3. Install the latest Microsoft Visual Studio C++ Redistributables (both x86 and x64) from Microsoft's official download page — these are required for EthoVision XT to function correctly with newer GPU hardware.
4. After updating drivers and redistributables, restart the PC and launch EthoVision XT to verify camera detection and acquisition function correctly.
5. If issues persist, contact Noldus Support with your GPU model, driver version, and EthoVision XT version number for further guidance.
6. Note: If deep learning features are needed, also verify GPU architecture compatibility with EthoVision XT's deep learning module (Pascal-architecture GPUs are not supported for deep learning).
