Two GPUs Installed in System Cause Camera or Acquisition Issues After EthoVision Upgrade
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
After upgrading EthoVision (e.g., to XT 19), the camera is no longer detected or acquisition fails. The system has two GPUs installed (e.g., an integrated/onboard GPU and a discrete GPU, or two discrete GPUs).
Details
When two GPUs are present in a system, conflicts can arise during EthoVision acquisition or video rendering. EthoVision may attempt to use the wrong GPU or encounter conflicts between the two adapters. This can manifest as cameras not being recognized, video feed not displaying, or acquisition errors. Disabling the secondary (typically onboard/integrated) GPU in the system BIOS resolves the conflict. Observed after upgrading to EthoVision XT 19.
Solution
1. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (typically by pressing Del, F2, or F10 at startup).
2. Locate the display or graphics settings section.
3. Disable the integrated/onboard GPU (or the secondary GPU that is not intended for EthoVision use).
4. Save changes and exit the BIOS.
5. Boot into Windows and launch EthoVision.
6. Verify that the camera is now detected and acquisition functions correctly.
7. If you are unsure which GPU to disable, consult your system manufacturer's documentation or contact IT support. As a general rule, disable the integrated GPU and retain the discrete dedicated GPU for EthoVision use.
