FaceReader Audio Not Audible During In-App Video Playback
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
A user records video with audio in MediaRecorder and imports it into FaceReader for analysis, but no audio is heard during playback inside FaceReader, even when system volume is turned up.
Details
This is expected behavior, not a software defect. FaceReader does not play back audio during the analysis workflow. Audio recorded in MediaRecorder is embedded in the video file but is not routed through FaceReader's playback engine. Affects all FaceReader versions when video is sourced from MediaRecorder.
Solution
1. Confirm that the video file itself has audio by opening it in an external media player (e.g., Windows Media Player, VLC) outside of FaceReader.
2. If audio is present in the external player, the recording is intact — FaceReader simply does not play audio during analysis.
3. For workflows that require simultaneous audio review and facial analysis, play the video in an external player alongside FaceReader, or review audio separately before or after running the analysis.
4. There is no setting within FaceReader to enable audio playback during analysis; this is a platform limitation.
