USB License Key Upgrade Code Not Accepted
Last updated: Oct 29, 2026
Problem
A user attempts to apply an upgrade code to their USB license key but the code is not accepted or the upgrade prompt does not appear as expected.
Details
Occurs when an upgrade code generated for a specific software version is entered in a different version. The upgrade code must be entered in the exact software version it was created for. The last four characters of the upgrade code are entered in the first box of the Upgrade Key 2 field. The middle digits of the license number represent the unique license identifier.
Solution
1. Confirm which software version the upgrade code was created for (e.g., version 19).
2. Install the correct version of the software that matches the upgrade code.
3. Plug in the USB license key before launching the software.
4. Launch the software — an upgrade prompt should appear at startup.
5. Enter the upgrade code: place the last four characters into the first box of the 'Upgrade Key 2' field.
6. Note that the middle digits of the license number identify the unique license — verify these match if issues persist.
