Behaviors missing from Behavioral Analysis results because they are deselected in the behavior selection panel
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
After creating a Data Profile and running Behavioral Analysis, some behavioral codes (e.g., specific prompt categories) do not appear in the results sheet, even though they are present in the coding scheme and underlying observation data.
Details
The missing behaviors are not filtered out by the Data Profile itself. Instead, they have been manually deselected in the behavior selection panel within the Behavioral Analysis tab. This can happen unintentionally, especially when switching between projects or data profiles. Affects any version of Observer XT where the behavior selection panel is available in the Behavioral Analysis module.
Solution
1. In Observer XT, open the Behavioral Analysis module.
2. Before running the analysis, locate the behavior selection panel (the list of individual behaviors/codes available for inclusion).
3. Verify that all relevant behaviors are checked/selected. Deselected behaviors will be excluded from the output even if they appear in your Data Profile.
4. Select all required behaviors, then re-run the Behavioral Analysis.
5. As a best practice, always review the behavior selection panel when working with a new project or a different Data Profile to ensure no codes have been accidentally deselected.
