Dongle Driver Error — EthoVision Fails to Start Due to HASP Driver Incompatibility on Windows 11
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
The status LED on the USB dongle does not illuminate and EthoVision cannot be launched. The software fails to start with no clear error message.
Details
Occurs when an older version of EthoVision (e.g., EV14) is run on Windows 11, which is not a supported combination with the existing HASP dongle driver. The outdated HASP driver is incompatible with Windows 11, preventing the dongle from being recognized and the software from starting.
Solution
1. Confirm that the issue is caused by running an older EthoVision version (e.g., EV14) under Windows 11.
2. Obtain the updated HASP driver executable (HASP.exe) from Noldus Support.
3. Run the new HASP.exe installer on the affected machine.
4. Restart the computer after installation.
5. Reconnect the USB dongle and verify the status LED is now illuminated.
6. Launch EthoVision and confirm normal operation.
Note: If the problem persists, verify that the EthoVision version in use is officially supported on Windows 11, and consider upgrading to a compatible version.
