If you are using The Observer XT 16 with a software-based license (instead of a hardware license key) and encounter the following error message, please update to the latest version of the software:

Error contacting the license server. Check your internet connection, your firewall, or the license server may be offline. If you use a proxy server, you must configure your proxy server settings.
Unable to connect to the remote server - URL: https://qlmlicenses.noldus.com:9999/qlmlicenseserver/qlmservice.asmx

Cause

This error occurs specifically in version 16.0.1201 of The Observer XT. It was resolved in version 16.0.1203.

Solution

1. Download the updated version (16.0.1203 or higher) from the Downloads section of this site.
2. Install the update to ensure proper license server connectivity.

How to Check Your Version

To find out which version you are currently using:

1. Open The Observer XT.
2. Go to Help > About The Observer.
3. The version number will be listed in the dialog window.
