Viso Broadcaster Settings

The Steps to Set Up Your Broadcaster

Which situation applies to you?

• Noldus IT installed your broadcaster. The broadcaster has already been set up. You can select the device in your location. See Select Non-ONVIF Devices.
• You bought the broadcaster yourself. Follow the procedure for the broadcaster you purchased:
  • Settings for the Epiphan Pearl Nano
  • Settings for the Epiphan VGADVI Broadcaster

Settings for the Epiphan Pearl Nano

Aim: To specify a fixed IP address for the Epiphan Pearl Nano in the range of the other devices in the Viso network.

Procedure:

1. Connect the broadcaster to the network switch. The broadcaster screen shows No Signal and opens the Auto menu.
2. Click the left arrow on the broadcaster to switch to the Menu.
3. Select System and click the OK button on the broadcaster.
4. Select Network and deselect DHCP.
5. Enter an IP address in the range of the Viso system and select Set IP Address.
6. Select Network Mask, enter 255.255.255.0 and click Set Net Mask.
7. Enter the IP address that you chose in step 5 in a web browser, for instance Google Chrome.
   • If you bought the broadcaster yourself, you do not need a password to have access to the settings.
   • If Noldus IT installed your broadcaster, enter admin as the username and the default password provided by Noldus IT.
8. Under Channel in the list on the left, click Auto and then Encoding.
9. Under Video Settings, from the Video Encoding Profile drop-down list select High.
10. Deselect Use Current Signal Resolution as Frame Size.
11. Click 1920x1080 as the Frame Size.
12. From the Key Frame Interval drop-down list select Key Frames Only.
13. In the Limit Frame Rate field enter 30.
14. In the Bitrate field enter 50000 and click Apply. Set the frame size and rate according to the input stream.
15. Under Configuration in the list on the left, click Security.
16. Delete the text in the Viewer and the Operator fields.
17. In the Administrator field enter the default password provided by Noldus IT and click Apply.

Settings for the Epiphan VGADVI Broadcaster

Carry out the following steps:

1. Set the computer's IP address to the range of the broadcaster.
2. Set the broadcaster IP address.
3. Reset the computer IP address.

Set the Computer's IP Address to the Range of the Broadcaster

Aim: To temporarily set the IP address of your computer in the range of the broadcaster, so that you can access the broadcaster settings. The factory IP address of the Epiphan VGADVI broadcaster is 192.168.255.250.

Procedure:

1. Open the Control Panel and go to Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click Change Adapter Settings on the left side of your window.
3. Right-click the Local Area Connection and click Properties. If your computer has more than one Local Area Connection, choose the one to which the broadcaster is connected. To check which one this is, remove the cable from the IP port on your computer. The LAN connection that shows the disconnected symbol is the correct one.
4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
5. Important: Write down the settings in the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window that appears before you continue with the next step.
6. Click Use the Following IP Address and enter 192.168.255.249.
7. Enter 255.255.0.0 in the Subnet Mask field. Leave the other fields empty.

Set Broadcaster IP Address

Aim: To specify a fixed IP address for the Epiphan VGADVI broadcaster in the range of the other devices in the Viso network.

Procedure:

1. Connect the broadcaster to the Viso network switch.
2. Open a browser, for example Google Chrome, and enter the IP address http://192.168.255.250/admin/.
3. Enter the username admin and the password. If you obtained the Epiphan VGADVI broadcaster from Noldus IT, the password is Noldus. If you bought the broadcaster yourself, leave the Password field empty.
4. Under Configuration, choose Network.
5. Select Use Static Address and enter an address in the 192.168.0.x range, using a last number that differs from the cameras and the switch.
6. Enter 255.255.255.0 in the Network Mask field.
7. Do not change the other fields. The Default Gateway and DNS Server fields may not be empty. If the fields have no default value, enter the IP address from step 5 in both fields.
8. Click Apply. When the settings have been updated, a message appears stating that you should reboot the device. Do not do this yet.
9. Click Stream Setup.
10. Enter 25 in the Limit Frame Rate field. Important: Do not choose a higher frame rate than 30 fps. The device will crash if you do so.
11. Choose Configuration > Access Passwords.
12. Empty all password fields and click Apply.
13. Choose Maintenance > Reboot Now and confirm the reboot. Wait until the device has restarted. This may take a few minutes.

Reset the Computer IP Address

Aim: To restore the IP address of the computer.

Procedure:

1. Close all windows and follow steps 1 to 4 of the Set the Computer's IP Address procedure.
2. Restore the settings you wrote down in step 5. These are the settings you used when you gave the computer a fixed IP address. If you have not yet given the computer a fixed IP address, follow that procedure now. Click OK and close the Control Panel. Your device is now ready for use.
