Viso - Upgrading and Reinstalling

J - Configuring Cameras

These instructions pertain to any Axis camera running v7+ firmware. 1. Browse to the camera's home page. If you do not know the camera's address, use the Axis IP Utility to discover the address. NB: Please use any web browser except Internet Explorer. 2. When prompted, set the camera's password to Noldus123. 3. Click Create login. 4. Log into the camera with the credentials root / Noldus123. 5. If prompted to, select the appropriate power line frequency and click Next. In North America, this is 60 Hz. 6. From the drop down, select Manual IP and manual DNS. 7. Enter an address on the 192.168.200.x subnet. Cameras are IP'd at .1 for camera 1, .2 for camera 2, etc. 8. Click Next. 9. If prompted to, set the camera's orientation and click Done. 10. In the bottom-left of the screen, click Settings. 11. In the Image tab, change IR-cut filter to On. 12. If the camera is using external audio, in the Audio tab, change Type to Line. 13. In the System tab, click ONVIF. 14. Click Add... to create a new ONVIF user. 15. Give the new user the User name Admin and the password Noldus123. Select the User group Administrator. 16. Click OK and close the ONVIF window. 17. In the System tab, click Plain config. 18. From the drop-down, select WebService and click Select group. 19. Uncheck Enable replay attack protection and click Save. 20. From the drop-down, select Network and click Select group. 21. Under Network QoS Class 1 and Network QoS Class 2, enter 46 and click Save.

K - Troubleshooting the Router

If you suspect a problem with the router, here are some simple troubleshooting steps: 1. Is only one device affected, or are all devices affected? If only one device, the issue is likely not the router. 2. Is the router plugged in to power? Is the power supply supplying power? 3. Are indicator lights on the router blinking? 4. Do Ethernet ports on the router indicate activity and link? 5. Is the router abnormally warm or hot? 6. Is the router making noise? 7. Is the workstation receiving an IP address from the router? 8. Is the router passing network traffic? 9. Are other devices on the network reachable? Attempt to ping a device by opening a command prompt and then typing ping HOSTNAME or ping IPADDRESS. Eg. ping noldus-recorder1, ping 192.168.200.100. If none of these steps point to an issue, perform a factory reset on the router and re-enter the configuration. If the issues persist, it may be necessary to replace the router. How to perform a factory reset is dependent on the router manufacturer and model. Please check the Reference Manual for your device to learn how to do a factory reset. Standard Noldus router settings: IP Address: 192.168.200.250 DHCP Scope: 192.168.200.50-99 SSID: Noldus Lab Wifi Security: WPA2/TKIP Passphrase: Noldus123

L - Credentials

If the Viso system is "domain joined" (on school/company network), credentials may need to be created on Viewer PCs in order to facilitate communication with Recorder PCs. The following errors require this change to the Viewer PC:

1. Open the Credential Manager:

2. Click Windows Credentials, then click Add a Windows credential.

3. In the field Internet or network address enter the hostname of a Viso Recorder PC.

Eg: VISO-RECORDER1

4. In the field User name enter the hostname and username. Eg: VISO-RECODER1\Noldus

If you only have 1 recorder PC, then use: VISO-RECODER\Noldus

5. In the field Password enter the password for the supplied account. Eg: Noldus123

6. Click OK and repeat the steps for each Recorder PC in the organization. Eg: VISO-RECORDER2\Noldus

M - Static routes

The "Camera Connection Not Available" error can show up when Viso Viewer attempts to stream video via the wrong network adaptor. To ensure that the system is always using the correct network adaptor, it's best to create a static route to control the traffic. You might need to reset the routing table periodically. It can get cleared out via various means like upgrading Viso or PC IP change. PROCEDURE 1. Click on Windows Start and type in CMD and open the Command Prompt as an administrator. 2. Enter the following: route delete 224.0.0.0 mask 240.0.0.0 route add - p 224.0.0.0 mask 240.0.0.0 WORKSTATION IP ADDRESS Example Output 3. Reboot PC.

COMPONENT INFO

Software Viso consists of 4 separate software elements:

1. Viso Services

Contains business logic, database storage, runs as Windows Service. Database MS SQL Server 2014 Express LocalDB is installed. This database contains the information about locations, sessions, markers, subjects, event logs and users.

2. Viso Recorder (and Recorder Manager)*

The actual recording engine Recorder Manager handles multiple Viso Recorders.

3. Viso Viewer

The software interface user interacts with when using Viso. Installs RTSP filter and H264 Decoder Installs LeadTools first, RTSP Source filter second.

4. Viso Web app

Installed via Services and started as a Windows service. Viso Web app (HTTPS over port 5001, must manually create a rule in Windows Firewall) Can view locations and start/stop recordings (single session) and remotely playback sessions (Separate or Composite). Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer NOT recommended. * Installation order of the items Viso Recorder installs: 1. RTSP Stream and Source filters 2. LeadTools Filters 3. Viso Recorder 10.0 4. Viso Recorder Manager (in the Task bar, aka VRM) 5. VRM 'controls' Viso Recorders. 6. Via VRM can enter parameters for connection with Services. 7. Via VRM specify folder where sessions (media files) are stored. NB: DO NOT EVER DELETE this folder! 8. Via VRM can move all sessions (media files) to another computer (Move computer). NOTE: This is NOT A COPY! The media files are deleted from the Recorder PC (the original location you moved them from) and MOVED to the directory specified. The folder on the Move computer must be accessible to everyone (Administrator must grant Read/Write rights to this folder manually. The folder on the Move computer must be a network (shared) folder. 9. Reboot PC Modules: Base o Up to 4 rooms with 4 cameras each (16 cameras total) o Can expand license to include more rooms o 4 Rooms per PC Annotation Create codes list Annotate (Code) Subjects and/or Markers Enter (free text) Remarks Scheduler (allows scheduling sessions in advance) Remote View (Viso Web App) Viso Web App Requires Remote View Module (which is now standard with Viso 10) Port 5001 (Must manually create a rule in Windows firewall) Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer NOT recommended Can view locations and start/stop recordings (single session) Can remotely playback sessions (Separate or Composite) Cannot log into Viso Web app with Setup account (can only use that account via regular Viso interface) Cameras We only support IP cameras connected via RTSP/H.264 Video/AAC audio. Axis cameras support DSCP (Differentiated Services Code Point). This gives streaming of video/audio high priority to avoid delays. Audio AAC audio only from Onvif compliant camera. Cannot record audio of a non-ONVIF device. Record audio from a separate microphone that is connected to the MIC input of the PC. Audio can be connected to IP camera as PC only has 1 line-in. o When using 4 recorders this can be an issue = use a 4 port audio card. o Audio video sync issues are possible when using a 4 port audio card. For talkback (Push-To-Talk) an AXIS DLL is used, so this only works for AXIS cameras which support talkback. o The microphone of the computer where Viso Viewer is executing on is used. o FYI: When Viso Recorder is installed on the same computer as Viso Viewer, it is either line-in or talkback, not both! POE Switch + network card NetGear GS728TP 1 Gb/s switch (mandatory) Intel Pro1000 CT NIC (preferred) DSCP (highest priority of IP packages) IGMP snooping (streaming multicast only to computers who want to see the stream). Port 1 is for connecting to the company network and LDAP ports. Port 24 is for connecting the VGADVI Broadcaster (DSCP configured) PC connected to Switch should have a fixed IP in the range of the switch: 192.168.0.239 (switch default IP) Recorder PC: Company network MUST be via switch, not a second network card. Network allows data transfer of at least 1 Gb per second. Should be part of a Workgroup NOT a Domain. NB: If Workgroup is password protected, sharing must be enabled, see Setup manual. PC names and IP addresses must be different amongst the Viso PC's. (multiple PC's with same name = same video session name = playback WILL fail). All cameras and PC connected to switch. Cables must be suitable Gb Ethernet, CAT5e minimum. Config file Netgear GS728TP.txt (switch predefined Noldus settings file) is located on the Viso Installation USB stick. VGADVI Broadcaster (Epiphan) The VGADVI Broadcaster can be used for capturing full HD screens (max 1920x1080). It connects using RTSP. No audio, No ONVIF. No additional drivers. The Connection path is stream.sdp (with or without ). Must not contain password. = anyone can view broadcaster stream on company network. Factory IP of broadcaster is 192.168.255.250 PC's IP (NIC via TCP/IPv4) in range of Epiphan: IP: 192.168.255.249 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Then setup IP for Epiphan, see images in manual. Does not support DSCP. rtsp://96377.local:554/stream.sdp (path for RTSP protocol) (port 554) Broadcaster manual says when you use a fixed IP address: The default gateway cannot be left blank. The DNS server address cannot be left blank. When a fixed IP address is used for both the gateway and the DNS, enter the fixed IP address. Storage PC Session storage PC (optional): All sessions automatically moved from recorder to this PC. Can also move to a Linux based NAS device. Database Services create a database file in the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Noldus\Viso with the name VisoDatabase.mdf (and the log file VisoDatabase_log.ldf). o Caution! Deleting both files deletes all locations, sessions, codes lists, event logs and users! o Mind that deletion is only possible if the Viso Services have been stopped. This database file is backed up every 4 hours (interval can be changed in the settings file of the services). For restoring a previous version of the database execute the file Restore Viso Database (a. LNK file). By default the database is backed up in the same folder as the original database. If the Services PC fails all the data is lost. Please specify a different backup location (can be different HDD or better another PC / server). Viso 9 has a problem with "Restore Viso Database.bat" batch. If you try to restore database using this file it will fail while trying to remove original database. To make it work you need to remove the database manually from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Noldus\Viso. Run the batch file again and it will restore the database. After restore is complete you need to manually start Viso Services. To edit the database file, use a freeware tool, for example LinqPad. o Mind that the Services must be stopped before the LinqPad connection with the database can be made! o Editing database manually poses a risk to lose all the data. This should be done only if nothing else can be done! Sessions A session recording (Separate or Composite) is supported with a maximum of 8 locations with 2 cameras each. If you log out while a sessions is being recorded, recording continues. If you start recording from multiple Locations manually, you must stop recording in each Location separately. Recording stops automatically if the PC that stores the videos files runs out of disc space. There can be multiple sessions with the same name. Sessions with the same name can be distinguished in the Sessions list by the recording date and time. Rename a session by right-clicking on it and select Rename. Delete a session by right-clicking on it and select Delete. o Note: This deletes ALL the videos from the session. Importing Video Can import 1 external video into 1 (separate) session. Imported videos format supported is technically any Noldus MP4 video (with H264 encoding and AAC audio). o MP4 files recorded elsewhere may not import. Audit Report Via Menu button, select Audit Report. Choose time period, user, Location, then click Export. Log file is exported as CSV. Presentation Display Markers and Remarks are not shown on second display to reduce clutter and/or confidentiality purposes. If you connect a display while Viso is open, close and reopen Viso to 'see' the new display.

Company network When a Viso system is connected to the company network this must be done via a switch or router. Connect directly to port 1 on POE Switch Only port 5001 and the LDAP ports should be open so that media files are NOT seen on the company network. Fixed IP addresses of all devices must then be unique. o All devices (cameras, switches, PC's) should have same subnet (3rd number in IP address)……192.168.35.xxx (all should be "35") IPv4 is blocked Video files are viewed on IPv6 Cameras can be accessed via a Browser when port 80 is open. IP Camera network limitations Viso Recorder cannot connect more than 4 IP cameras simultaneously. Since there can be 4 Viso recorders executing on one computer, the maximum number of IP cameras connected per computer is 16. o When more is needed, a second Viso Recorder PC is needed as well as a second switch. o The bandwidth needed for 16 HD cameras on a Viso Recorder computer is (~5 Mb 25 fps 1280x800 IP camera) is 16*5=80 Mb/s (no ZIPStream). This is re-streamed at the same moment by Viso Recorder, so 160 Mb/s over the recorder network cable. This is 16% of a 1 Gb/s network. o As an example, the Dell Precision T3930 has c: SSD 256GB, d: HDD 1TB. We recommend d:for the shared video folder, that is a HDD capable of 100-200Mb/s. Limitations are in: o Network bandwidth (1 Gb/s, but max 35%) o Hard disk write speed o 4 Recorders per computer, per recorder 4 IP cameras 1280x720@25 fps. o Maximum POE(+) power from switch. UTP Cabling FYI: A bad connection (connector and/or cabling) switches back the network speed to 100 Mb (instead of 1 Gb) = camera connection, image quality issues and/or sync issues are possible. Standard UTP cabling (theoretical length): CAT 5: 100m (100 Mbit/s; 100Mhz) CAT 5e: 100m (1 Gbit/s; 100Mhz) CAT 6: 55m (1 Gbit/s; 250Mhz) CAT 6a: 100m (10 Gbit/s; 500Mhz) CAT 7: 100m (10 Gbit/s; 1Ghz) http://www.fia-online.co.uk/pdf/Whites/wp-IAN002-01.pdf http://www.utp-kabel.nl/blog/welke-kabel-moet-ik-kiezen.html IPv6 Testers have seen that IPv6 can have influence in accessing PC's in the network. For example, if you cannot access the recorder PC (even ping requests does not respond) it could be that IPv6 protocol is used and it does not have the correct IP address assigned. In that case the best it is to completely disable IPv6 protocol. You can do this in the network adapter settings of the PC. Firewall When you install Viso Services it will not by default open port 5001 in the Windows firewall. However, this is needed for the Viso Web App to work. You need to manually create such a rule in Windows firewall in case Viso WebApp is used. Port 80 must be open. Windows related topics Viso is supported on Windows 10 Professional Disable automatic update of drivers in windows: (Device Installation Settings | Never install Driver software from Windows updates) Reboot PC daily. RDP support Viso Viewer should not be used via RDP. The playback of video files will not work well because of the limitation of the RDP (hardware acceleration is not supported). Use team viewer or another VNC based application to remotely control viewer PC's. Remote Viewing Remote Viewing: Viewing videos via web browser in PBP = very resource demanding. Make sure system is capable of delivering this functionality (but manual doesn't state how). Enable Remote View check box is deselected = you can still remotely star/stop a recording but you cannot view videos (sessions). Chrome and Safari browsers are supported. Microsoft Edge, Explorer, Safari Mobile is not recommended. Viso Web app: https://servername:5001 (if https is configured) All video streaming is done via RTSP HTTPS Viso Web Interface https://servername:5001

P - Enabling network for remote support

If a remote support session is necessary, a secondary network adapter may need to be enabled. PROCEDURE

1. Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and click Change

adapter settings on the left. 2. On a PC supplied by Noldus, there will be two network connections. One is the Viso network (which is enabled) and the other is a secondary network adapter which may be disabled.

3. Right-click the disabled adapter and click Enable. If the adapter is attached to a network that is

connected to the internet, a remote session may be able to be established. 4. When the remote session is complete, disable the adapter.

Q - Upgrading an existing Viso installation

Please note that this is the UPGRADE procedure.

If you are installing on a NEW PC, follow the Viso Setup (Installation) manual. If you have an active NoldusCare contract you can upgrade to the latest version of Viso. To download the latest version, log into your MyNoldus portal: https://my.noldus.com/account. TIPS: If you have more than one Recorder PC's, always start with the Recorder PC that is running Viso Services. This PC can be identified as the one with the USB license key. This pc is typically named viso-recorder1 This PC has Viso Services listed in the Task Manager/Services tab. It is recommended that you install Viso Viewer on the Recorder PC running Viso Services. This allows you to troubleshoot the local connection to the recorder before you upgrade other recorders and viewers in the installation. See Connections for more info. Please follow the procedure below in the exact order to ensure a successful setup!

1. Make a backup copy of the database before uninstalling/reinstalling Viso

A. In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen (by PC clock/date), locate the Viso Recorder Icon, right-click on it and select Exit. NB: If you have more than one Recorder PC, repeat on each Recorder PC. B. Click the Windows Start button and type in Services. Open the Services App. C. In the list of Services, locate RabbitMQ then right-click on it and select Stop. You will then get a window asking if you want to stop other services. This will be a list of all of the Viso services running on the Recorder. Click Yes and check that RabbitMQ and all of the Viso services are now stopped. D. Go to C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Noldus\Viso and make a backup copy of the following database files: VisoDatabase.mdf and VisoDatabas_log.ldf and paste them in the Backup folder in same directory. The original database files need to stay in this folder to properly upgrade your installation. Do not remove, cut or delete files from (only COPY): C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Noldus\Viso The backup copy can be placed anywhere. We suggest creating a Backup folder in this same directory.

2. Uninstall Viso

A. Go to Control Panel/Uninstall a Program and uninstall the following in this EXACT order: 1. Viso 2. Viso Recorder 3. Viso Services 4. N-Linx Server NB: Do not uninstall Erlang! B. Reboot PC and confirm that all the programs were removed from the Programs and Features window.

3. Install Viso

A. Double-click on Viso Services Setup.exe and let it install. NB: Software sits at 81% for a while before it finishes the installation B. Double-click on Viso Recorder Setup.exe and let it install. C. Reboot PC D. Double-click on Viso Setup.exe and let it install.

4. Check the Installation

Check that all Services are running Click the Windows Start button and type in Services. Open the Services App. RabbitMQ VisoDiagnosticsService VisoReverseProxyService VisoServices VisoWebServer Check that Viso Recorder is running properly Open Viso Viewer and log into the software with the Technician or Administrator account. All installations should have a Noldus account: Username: Noldus Password: Noldus123 NB: If account doesn't exist, check Customer folder on Q drive. Click on the Sessions Tab and verify you can see prerecorded sessions Verify you can open prerecorded session Click on Locations tab and verify the locations are Online and make sure you can open the Online Locations. Note: If you have more than one Recorder PC, some Locations will show 'Offline' follow the instructions in the next section Upgrading additional Recorder PC's (Step #5 below). Open up User Management and Verify the user accounts are still in the list. Click the Menu button and select User management.

5. Upgrading additional Recorder PC's

A. Go to Control Panel/Uninstall a Program and uninstall Viso Recorder. B. Reboot the PC. C. Confirm Viso Recorder no longer appears in the Programs and Features window. D. Install latest version of Viso Recorder (the same version/file as you installed on the first PC) by double-clicking on Viso Recorder Setup.exe. E. Reboot the PC. F. The Recorder will come back up and connect to the Viso Services on the first Recorder and the Locations will come Online. G. Check the installation per Step #4 above.

6. Upgrading Viso Viewer

A. Go to Control Panel/Uninstall a Program and uninstall Viso Viewer. B. Reboot the PC. C. Confirm Viso Viewer no longer appears in the Programs and Features window. D. Install latest version of Viso Viewer by double-clicking on the Viso Setup.exe file. E. Launch the Viewer software: You will get a window that looks like this: Enter the host name of the computer running Viso Services: F. If the above log-in screen doesn't appear, close the Viewer software and reopen it. G. Log in to Viewer and verify you can open recoded sessions and Locations. If so, you are now ready to use the latest version of Viso! Depending on how your lab is specifically set up……..you may need to set the credentials and/or routing tables. These will need to be applied to every PC in the Viso network to ensure proper communication within the network. If you get any of the following errors, set the credentials and/or routing tables: o Viso Services error o Session(s) not found o Invalid Video in Session o Camera Connection not available

Each Viso Recorder PC can handle up to 4 Locations with 4 cameras per Location (max 16 cameras total). Additional Viso Recorder PC's are needed when recording from 5+ Locations. In a standard installation, the Viso Recorder PC's follow our naming convention of Viso- Recorder1, Viso-Recorder2, etc… If installation deviates from the default naming convention, please document it.
