Exporting EthoVision Analysis Statistics to Excel for Graphing
Last updated: Oct 29, 2026
Problem
A user finds that charts exported from EthoVision are saved as image files (PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF) and cannot be edited in Excel. They want editable data to create their own graphs.
Details
Applies to all versions of EthoVision XT that support the Statistics export function. The built-in chart export function produces raster image files. To obtain editable data for graphing in Excel or other software, users must use the Statistics export function rather than the chart export.
Solution
1. In EthoVision, go to Analysis > Export > Statistics.
2. Choose the export scope: select 'Trial Statistics' for individual trial data or 'Group Statistics' for aggregated group data, depending on what you want to graph.
3. For File Type, select Excel (*.xlsx) to produce an editable spreadsheet.
4. Choose the analysis profile and the parameters/measures you want to include, then click Export.
5. Open the exported .xlsx file in Excel. The data will be organized in columns by trial/group and measure, ready for you to create custom charts.
6. If you need raw time-series data (e.g., position over time) rather than summary statistics, use Analysis > Export > Raw Data instead.
