PoE Injector Missing from Shipment or Causing 'Device Unplugged' Errors – Replacement Procedure
Last updated: Oct 29, 2026
Problem
A Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector is either missing from a Noldus hardware shipment, or an existing PoE injector is causing intermittent 'Device Unplugged' errors that prematurely end video acquisition.
Details
Affects EthoVision XT setups using Basler GigE cameras powered via PoE. Two distinct scenarios: (1) The PoE injector was not included in the delivered hardware package. (2) An existing PoE injector intermittently drops power, causing the GigE camera to disconnect mid-trial and EthoVision to display a 'Device Unplugged' error, stopping acquisition. Both scenarios result in inability to acquire data.
Solution
**If the PoE injector is missing from your shipment:**
1. Contact Noldus Support with your order number and confirm which item is missing.
2. Support will arrange shipment of a replacement PoE injector at no charge via a support quote.
**If an existing PoE injector is causing intermittent 'Device Unplugged' errors:**
1. Check all cable connections: reseat the Ethernet cable at both the PoE injector and the camera, and at the NIC end.
2. Try a different Ethernet cable to rule out a cable fault.
3. Verify the PoE injector is rated for the power requirements of your specific Basler camera model (check the camera datasheet for PoE class requirement).
4. If the problem persists, the injector is likely failing—contact Noldus Support to arrange a replacement. Sales will assist with quoting a new unit.
5. As a temporary workaround, if your GigE NIC supports PoE output natively, connect the camera directly to the NIC without the injector.
