Problem

Users need to modify properties of multiple zones at once in EthoVision XT but are unaware of how to select more than one zone at a time, leading to time-consuming zone-by-zone edits.

Details

EthoVision XT's arena setup allows simultaneous selection of multiple zones for batch editing. This is useful when applying the same modification (e.g., color, label, size adjustment) to several zones across one or multiple arenas. Affected workflow: arena and zone configuration during experiment setup.

Solution

1. In the arena setup view, click the first zone you want to select.
2. Hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard and click each additional zone you want to include in the selection.
3. All selected zones will be highlighted simultaneously.
4. Apply the desired modification (e.g., color change, property edit) — the change will be applied to all selected zones at once.

Additional tip: To copy a zone configuration to other arenas with the same specifications, use EthoVision's copy/paste zone functionality in the arena setup panel after selecting the zone(s).
