FaceReader Gaze Tracking Feature Not Appearing Despite Valid License
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
A user has gaze tracking included in their FaceReader license but cannot find or access the gaze tracking data or controls within the project workflow.
Details
Gaze tracking (and some other optional modules) must be explicitly enabled in FaceReader's settings before they appear in the project workflow. Having the license permission alone is not sufficient — the feature must also be toggled on in the software. Similarly, gaze tracking variables must be selected for inclusion before export. Observed in FaceReader 10.
Solution
1. In FaceReader, go to File > Settings.
2. Locate the Gaze Tracking option and ensure the checkbox is enabled/checked.
3. Save settings and return to your project — the gaze tracking controls should now be accessible in the project workflow.
4. When exporting data, open the export settings and confirm that gaze tracking variables are selected for inclusion; data output variables are not all exported by default.
5. If the option is not visible in Settings, verify with Noldus Support that gaze tracking is active on your license.
