Network Switch Reset Restores Lost Camera Connectivity
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
The NoldusHub loses connection to one or more cameras, and the camera feed is unavailable or drops intermittently.
Details
Symptoms include cameras becoming unreachable from the HUB interface despite the cameras being powered on. The issue can occur after network changes, power cycling, or unexpectedly during normal operation. Resetting the network switch between the HUB server and the camera hardware resolves the connectivity loss. This appears to be caused by a switch-level fault rather than a HUB software or camera configuration issue.
Solution
1. Confirm that the camera is powered on and that its indicator lights show normal operation.
2. Check all physical network cable connections between the camera, the network switch, and the HUB server.
3. Perform a reset of the network switch that connects the cameras to the HUB server (power cycle or use the switch's reset button, following the switch manufacturer's instructions).
4. Wait approximately 60 seconds for the switch to fully restart and for network links to re-establish.
5. Return to the NoldusHub interface and verify that the camera connection is restored.
6. If connectivity is not restored after the switch reset, check VLAN settings, switch port configurations, and confirm the camera's IP address is still reachable (e.g., via ping from the HUB server).
