EthoVision XT Trigger Integration Fails with 'Invalid File Name' Error

Last updated: Oct 29, 2026

Problem

When attempting to trigger UltraVox recordings from EthoVision XT, the software displays an 'Invalid File Name' error and cannot start or stop recordings.

Details

The error occurs because the command prompt configuration within EthoVision XT does not have the correct start/stop batch files specified. Affects UltraVox 4 integrations with EthoVision XT.

Solution

1. Obtain the correct UltraVox 4 batch files from Noldus Support.
2. Place the batch files in an accessible directory on the recording computer.
3. Open EthoVision XT and navigate to the Hardware settings or Trial Control settings where the external command is configured.
4. Set the 'Start' and 'Stop' command fields to point to the respective UltraVox 4 batch files.
5. Verify the full file paths are correct and contain no spaces or invalid characters.
6. Run a test trial to confirm recordings trigger and stop as expected.
