GPU Issue Causing Video Not Saving / Composite Video Export Error
Last updated: Oct 29, 2026
Problem
Viso fails to save video or encounters an error when exporting composite videos. Individual video exports may still succeed.
Details
Occurs when the graphics (GPU) driver on the recorder PC is updated to a version not supported by the current Viso/EthoVision version (e.g., version 12.1). Composite video export fails with an error message while individual video exports continue to work. Updating to EthoVision/Viso 12.2 or later resolves driver compatibility issues with up-to-date Nvidia drivers.
Solution
1. Confirm the issue is the composite export error (individual exports still work).
2. Check whether the Nvidia GPU driver was recently updated on the recorder PC.
3. Short-term fix: Roll back the GPU driver to a compatible version as directed by Noldus Support (contact support for the link to the compatible driver).
4. Install the compatible driver on the recorder PC and retry the composite export.
5. Long-term fix: Upgrade to EthoVision/Viso version 12.2 or later, which supports up-to-date Nvidia drivers.
6. If issues persist after a driver change, restart the recorder PC and retry the export.
