Select Audio Devices

Aim

To select microphones.

Prerequisites

• Your user role allows location setup (Technician).
• You added a location. See Add Locations.
• You selected the cameras. See Select ONVIF Devices or Select Non-ONVIF Devices.

Procedure

1. In the Add Location window, click the pencil button next to the Audio device.
2. Select one of the following options:
   • No audio – to record no audio with this camera.
   • IP Video device microphone – to select the microphone from or connected to the IP camera. This is only possible for cameras that support ONVIF. See also To Adjust the Recording Volume of a Microphone of an IP Camera.
   • DVS Receive xx-xx (Dante Virtual Soundcard) – select this option if your Viso setup includes Dante audio. Check in the Windows Sound settings which devices are enabled by right-clicking the speakers icon in your taskbar, selecting Sounds, and checking the Recording or Playback tab. 3. To select multiple microphones in one location, repeat the procedure for each microphone.
4. To use the same microphone for all videos, select Select audio device to use for all videos and select the radio button in front of the correct microphone.
5. Click OK in the Add Location window. The Locations tab now shows the new location when you unfold the computer item. It also shows whether the location is online, offline, locked, or recording, and by which user it is locked or recording. When you have just selected the cameras, it may take a few seconds before the location comes online.
6. Optionally, continue with Select Push-to-Talk Microphone.

To Adjust the Recording Volume of a Microphone Connected to the Viso Recorder Computer

1. Double-click the DSP icon on the desktop of the Viso Recorder PC to open the settings.
2. Click Live in the upper-right corner.
3. Click the name of the Extron device that is connected to the Viso Recorder PC and click OK.
4. Select Pull data from the device and update this configuration and click OK.
5. Double-click one of the inputs, adjust the volume, and click OK.

Notes

• If you change camera settings in a browser, edit the location with this camera in Viso Viewer, click the pencil button for this camera, and click Get device properties. This enables the new settings.
• Optionally, adjust the playback volume on the Viso computers by clicking the speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen and moving the slider.
• You can create as many locations as you want for each computer with Viso Recorder. However, you can only record from four locations simultaneously with one computer. If you created more than four locations, deselect the Select for recording checkbox for the superfluous locations. When you deselect a location, its status changes to offline. You cannot deselect a location that is locked or recording.
• If you want to change cameras in one or more locations at a later stage, make sure that nobody is using these locations. Check in the Status column that none of the locations is locked or recording.

Select Push-to-Talk Microphone

Aim

To select the microphone to communicate with the people in a location through the camera speaker.

Prerequisites

• You have an Axis camera with a speaker.
• You created the camera settings needed for push-to-talk audio. See Create Settings for Push-to-Talk Audio.
• You connected a microphone to the audio input of the Viso Viewer computer, or the Viso Viewer computer has a built-in microphone.
• Viso Viewer does not run on the same computer as Viso Recorder.

Procedure

1. Right-click the speaker symbol in the bottom-right corner of your screen, select Sounds, and open the Recording tab.
2. Right-click the correct microphone and select Set as Default Device.
3. Tap on the microphone and check the green bar to see whether you selected the correct microphone.
4. Choose Properties > Levels and adjust the sliders so that the green bar is maximal when speech level is normal.
5. Double-click a location to open it and hover with the mouse over the camera image. The toolbar appears at the bottom of the image.
6. Click and hold the push-to-talk button and speak through the microphone. The persons in the location should now hear you. Keep the button pressed while you speak.

Check Camera Pan and Tilt

Aim

To check whether the camera pans and tilts in the correct direction, and to resolve it if the camera moves in the opposite direction.

Prerequisites

• The camera supports ONVIF.
• The camera has pan, tilt, and zoom control.

Procedure

1. Open the Locations tab and double-click the location to open it.
2. Hover over an image from a camera with PTZ control. The toolbar appears at the bottom of the image.
3. Click the PTZ button to enable PTZ control.
4. A PTZ icon appears in the middle of the image and your mouse pointer becomes a small point. Click on the camera image and keep your left mouse button pressed to control the camera. The PTZ icon becomes connected to the point. The camera should move in the direction of the point.
5. If the camera image moves in the opposite direction, choose Back to close the location.
6. Click Edit Locations and unfold the computer item.
7. Click the pencil button in the location row.
8. Click the pencil button in the row of the camera with incorrect PTZ and click Get device properties. Select the checkbox Flip pan axis (horizontal movement) or Flip tilt axis (vertical movement), or both.
