Camera License Input Count Reduced After Upgrading MediaRecorder Version

Last updated: Nov 01, 2026

Problem

After upgrading from an older version of MediaRecorder (e.g., MR4) to a newer version (e.g., MR5 or MR6), the number of simultaneous camera inputs available is reduced (e.g., from more than 4 to only 4).

Details

The number of camera inputs available in MediaRecorder is determined by the license key, which is version-specific. Upgrading to a new version without transferring or updating the license to one that includes the correct camera count can result in fewer inputs being available than previously licensed. The camera count shown in Video Settings will reflect the lower licensed amount.

Solution

1. Confirm the issue by checking the Video Settings in MediaRecorder and noting the maximum number of camera inputs currently available.
2. Locate the license key(s) associated with the system (check original purchase documentation, the old MediaRecorder installation, or contact Noldus Sales with your order details).
3. Contact Noldus Support or Sales and provide the license key and the expected number of camera inputs from the previous version.
4. Noldus will issue the correct license key for the new version with the appropriate camera input count.
5. In MediaRecorder, deactivate the current license (Help → License) and activate the updated license key.
6. Restart MediaRecorder and verify the correct number of camera inputs is now available in Video Settings.
