Problem

Users who have .odx observation files (e.g., from a previous installation or another computer) need to know how to bring those files into Observer XT on a new installation or project.

Details

Affects any Observer XT version. When moving to a new computer or reinstalling Observer XT, users may have exported or preserved .odx files containing scored observation data and need to reintroduce them into a project. This is separate from restoring a full project folder backup.

Solution

1. Open Observer XT and open or create the target project.
2. Go to File > Import Observational Data > .odx files.
3. Browse to the location where your .odx files are stored and select the file(s) to import.
4. The observation data from the .odx file(s) will be added to the current project.
5. Verify that the imported observations are visible and accessible in the project after import.
6. Note: the .odx import requires that the coding scheme in the target project is compatible with the one used when the .odx files were originally created. If the schemes differ significantly, some data may not map correctly.
