Viewer PC Cannot Access Recorder Session Videos After Domain Join — Credential Manager Fix
Last updated: Nov 01, 2026
Problem
Users on Viewer PCs cannot open or view videos from Recorder PC sessions. This occurs after the Viewer PCs are joined to a domain, which removes their previous access to the shared folder on the Recorder PC.
Details
Affects Viso Viewer installations where the Viewer PC and Recorder PC are on a Windows domain. When Viewer PCs are joined to a domain, Windows domain credentials replace local credentials, breaking access to the shared folder on the Recorder PC where video files are stored. Users receive a permissions error when attempting to open a recorded session in Viso Viewer.
Solution
1. On the affected Viewer PC, open Windows Credential Manager (Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials).
2. Select 'Add a Windows credential'.
3. Enter the Recorder PC's hostname or IP address in the 'Internet or network address' field.
4. Enter the local username and password for the Recorder PC (the account that has access to the shared video folder).
5. Click OK to save the credential.
6. Repeat for each Viewer PC that needs access.
7. Relaunch Viso Viewer and verify that recorded sessions and video files are now accessible.
