The Observer XT applications
By measuring behavior, you can discover and understand a lot about human life. The use of video and coding those sessions greatly expands the scope of such a research project. That's why many researchers use The Observer XT® to capture and analyze behavior such as responses to a task, exposure to a novel object, or play with a sibling or peer.
Neuroscience research
Through the recording of physiological responses to specific stimuli and situations, researchers can reconstruct and analyze the cognitive processes and information utilization within our brain. The Observer XT allows for easy integration of multi-modal data, such as fMRI data, EEG or EMG, along with manually coded behaviors of interest.

The Observer XT in research
Researcher Marie Bocquillon uses two labs at the Institute of Educational Management of the University of Mons: an observation lab - where trainee teachers are videotaped while giving a lesson to their peer students - and an interaction lab - where the video feedback sessions takes place.
These feedback sessions are conducted based on the video of the trainee’s teaching practice performance that has been annotated by the supervisor. During debriefing, the supervisor and the trainee watch and discuss how the trainee acted during the lesson. The Observer XT enables Bocquillon to analyse the interaction between supervisor and trainee.
